The Triangle spoke to members of the Cobargo Fire Brigade to ask them why they joined and why they stay. Julie Welsh joined the fire brigade in 2017 after a fire at her family’s property. “We came the next Thursday night to thank the Brigade and husband and I joined that very night because Cobargo was in need of members. I stay because I love it! I’ve learned so much. I’m more useful on the farm with pumps and so many things. I stay because of the camaraderie. Dylan Salway joined the brigade about three years ago. “I joined because it was a good way to make a difference. I lost family members in the fires. I don’t want people to go through what I did. I keep coming back because I want to help people on their worst day and I’ve made heaps of friends. It’s a really good crew.”
