Sit Right Down

Sit Right Down is my dream for a bush retreat for tired activists

With your help, Sit Right Down will offer a time of serenity and calm for activists in need of regenerative rest in the bush on the traditional lands of the Dijiringanj people of the Yuin Nation.

Inspired by others in the region who offer residencies for artists, writers, conservationists and researchers to collaborate and complete work, we want to provide something similar, but for activists, to offer our thanks for their undervalued service.

Sit Right Down will offer time for people in the peace, environment, women’s and other social justice movements to take a rest. We recognise the enormous contribution their inspired volunteer work makes to our world. Taking pressure off them will help them keep the pressure on for justice and social change.

We will open up this pet friendly and kid friendly place for activists needing private time and space for restorative rest and exercise. With spacious verandahs for dining, reading and bird watching on a creek between two national parks on the NSW far south coast, the space can accommodate 4 individuals or couples.

A special person called David King created this place 25 years ago, and until recently he sat on the deck watching birds, listening to the creek, and soaking up sun under the peach tree. Dave loved this place and part of loving and missing Dave is wanting to share his sitting down place with like minded people working for social justice, peace, disability rights, and environmental protection.

Please help me raise the AUD $500k, €306k to buy this land from Dave’s family to make this dream of a bush retreat for tired activists a reality.
